Special Order Complete!

I received this special request from a customer that lives in an assisted living center. She wanted a doll to decorate outside her door for the seasons since she put her snowman away.  She stopped by and we picked out some fabrics and accessories to create a doll along the line of a red-hatter.
And here is how it come together. Miss Red is 3 1/2 feet tall with a red dress and hat with a variety of outfits. Her first outfit is for Easter- she has a basket with eggs and there are eggs in her changeable hat piece.
This will be her fall look,
her spring outfit with a bouquet of flowers,
and her red, white and blue outfit for summer complete with a pinwheel!
I think she turned out pretty cute! She will be going to her new home tomorrow.  On to my next project!!

April? Spring?

Can someone give Mother Nature a call and remind her it is spring? And it is supposed to be April showers that bring May flowers..NOT snow!!   A week ago almost all of our snow had melted. Last Thursday we received 8 inches of snow. Now on Sunday it is doing this-again!
And on this Monday morning, here is what it looks like 12 inches later! What the heck is going on already? On the bright side, at least it is moisture and one should never complain about that (it doesn't mean that I won't, though  :-).
So on Sunday, while my husband watched golf, I cut out bunches of snowmen and Santa cats to add to the other cut out piles in preparation for craft shows next fall. It just seemed like the thing to do on a snowy day.
And now the sun is shining and the wind is starting to blow the snow out of the trees. Time to bundle up and move some snow...and pray that the snow predicted for later this week doesn't show up!!
Take care,

More Grandma time!

I just spent almost 2 weeks with this special little guy and his folks. Did he keep me busy-nothing like trying to keep up with an 18 month old!  He LOVES to be outside-warmer weather can't get here too soon. He would come up to me with his boots, hat and mittens. It wasn't hard to tell what he wanted to do!

There was one beautiful day we headed to the park. He was one happy little boy!
The days went by so fast and now I am back home. Time to get some orders done and in the mail!

Looks like spring may be just around the corner- most of our snow is gone and the birds are singing like crazy! My thermometer showed 62 degrees today-awesome!! It is supposed to be cooler the rest of the week with a chance for rain. That should take care of the rest of our snow.  I hope it is nice wherever you are.

Happy Spring!

Shopping fun!

One only has to look at the date of the last post to realize how fast the days go by!

I took a couple of days off and rode along with my husband to some meetings he had. It is an 200 mile journey each way, but it is where the closest fabric stores are.  I would have eight full hours to myself to spend shopping...does it get any better?
We had a nice dinner Thursday night, got a good nights sleep, and I hit the ground running Friday morning...I did slow down a bit when I dropped my husband off.  I spent a couple of hours in JoAnns alone, taking full advantage of the Coupon Commotion Sale that is going on. I had mailer coupons, internet coupons and email coupons in hand...did I have a blast using all those coupons!
I  also spent time in Hobby Lobby, Hancock Fabrics, and Mill End Textiles. Here are all the treasures I accumulated in my venture. I found fabric for a couple of special orders, restocked some plush felt and scrim, picked up some new stuffing tools to try, and found fabric for some new patterns I want to get made up, (plus a few pieces I just liked).  I always use any extra coupons to add to my stash of the electric country candles. See the pink, yellow, orange and green pieces? Those are burlap, I can't believe all of the colors it comes in these days!  I couldn't pass it up. I am thinking there is a way to make some cool flowers out of it.
Now to make room in my studio for more stuff!
Have a great day everyone-

A Sneak Peek, New Items, and an Outfit Dilemma!

Is everybody ready to 'hop' into Spring? Next week the OFG team is going to be hosting a spring celebration with dozens of new items for your shopping enjoyment. Here is a sneak preview of the items I have ready.

Mr. Hopper

Bunny Jo

Hoppy Easter Bunny

And last but not least, a couple of chicks in an egg!

This is a pin keep I just finished and listed in my shop. I was surprised at how big it is sooo cool! I love how it turned out.

I have also added some chocolate bunny bowl fillers- they look good enough to eat! Not good to be chocolate in my house...I can smell it at  500 feet!

This is another pattern that turned out WAY bigger than I expected. I need to start reading descriptions better...LOL!
I made this big boy out of an old chenille bedspread, but I am having trouble deciding what to make his bib shorts out of...denim or a print homespun fabric. Any ideas?
I also have to decide if I want to coffee stain him...big many decisions!

I look forward to your suggestions,

Facebook Giveaway

Wow- seems like it was just January 1st and we were celebrating a new year. How the heck did it get to be    February 9th?  I know a couple of weeks flew by while I was in Indiana visiting my grandson and his parents (funny how your kids take a back seat to their kids!).  I hadn't planned on staying quite that long, but weather kept interfering with my return. Personally, I think my daughter was paying off  Mother Nature to keep me there...can't say that I minded the extended stay one bit!   Here is a picture of my special little guy- such a big personality and sooooo much energy!! It was amazing he sat still for this picture.

I want to give everyone a heads up- I have passed 200 Likes on My Stitches To Treasure Facebook page and am doing a giveaway to say "Thanks"!  Head on over and leave a comment (and a Like if you haven't visited yet)  for a chance to win this bunny. That's it- pretty simple!
It looks like it will be a pretty quiet Sunday tomorrow- it is supposed to start snowing and blowing tonight and there is no travel advised.  Sounds like we could be in for 8 - 12 inches of snow. Not real excited unless it gets me out of work on Monday!   I think it will be a good day to finish up a couple of new bunnies for my shop. Yea!!

Good luck on the giveaway!

Playing With My New Camera

Happy New Year and Best Wishes for a Wonderful 2013!

I decided it would be nice to have a 'Do Nothing' day...sort of.  I bought a new camera last fall and haven't had a lot of time to learn how to use it. I've been reading my 'Dummies' book these last few days, so I decided to see if I have learned anything. Here are some pictures of Valentine's items I was getting ready for my Etsy shop.

I have set up a "white box" area with several lights so I would have a consistent look for every shot. was a good thought! Seems I can't get the background white to look the same on all my pictures even though they are all photographed the same. Appears I need more work with the editing software. (Sounds like a good goal for 2013.) I guess we will see if I get more accomplished as the year goes by- wish me luck! Feel free to pass on any photography advice-it looks like the camera cannot take great pictures all by itself :0) Cheers for the New Year- Deb
